Phone Box Thursday: Port of Tyne International Passenger Terminal, North Shields

This is another phone box that Dad spotted while travelling!

You can’t quite get into the ferry terminal on Google Street View, but you can just about see the phone box from the parallel road.

Despite the fact that it’s a local phone box to me, I’ve not seen this one in person, due to the fact that I don’t travel by ferry very often. If I ever do, I’ll look out for it!

Update August 2025: it’s been moved to a different part of the terminal!

Update 2nd April 2026: updated coordinate link.

Phone Box Thursday: Abbey Park, Dundrennan

I’m moving onto a series of pictures of phone boxes that Dad has sent me in the course of his and Mum’s travels. This first one is from Dundrennan in Dumfries and Galloway.

This phone box goes beautifully with the pretty church behind it. Rural boxes in the middle of nowhere, like this one, tend to be less at risk from councils attempting to ‘modernise’ things, so you still see lots of them about.

Phone Box Thursday: Bognor Regis Railway Station, Bognor Regis

This is my most recent phone box find. I spotted it the day we arrived in Bognor for Electric Dreams.

I like phone boxes on railway platforms – they really cheer up the space.

From next week, I’ll be going through a few older phone box photos!

Update 26th March 2026: added coordinate link (you can just see the phone box in the background behind the ‘Welcome’ sign).

Happy new year…and happy birthday blog!

A year ago today, I started this blog. I knew I wanted to blog every day, but I didn’t realise it would be so fun and rewarding – even if it is a bit time-consuming sometimes! I’m looking forward to another year spent rambling about all my hobbies and interests.

I’ve had a great New Year’s Day with family – we did what we always do, which is eating Lancashire hotpot (Dad makes an extra veggie pot so that I can eat it too) and exchanging presents in the evening. I then watched Doctor Who. 2019 has started well.

OOTD 1st January 2019
OOTD: New Year’s Day outfit! Earrings Primark (2018), blouse Richard Shops (vintage 1980s, bought at vintage fair 2018), skirt Chicwish (2018), shoes Office (2018).

(Just a quick extra word about the phone box skirt – I’ve been waiting for an opportunity to wear it for ages! It’s called the ‘Oh London!’ skirt, and I first saw it on Joanne Clifton on an episode of Strictly: It Takes Two in 2016, but I couldn’t get my own one until I reached my target weight due to it having a fitted waist.)

Today’s earworm playlist:

David Guetta and Sia – Flames
The Killers – Mr Brightside
Duran Duran – Hungry Like The Wolf

Phone Box Thursday: Upper Street, London

It’s our last phone box post of 2018, and the last in the series of phone boxes from Islington for now!

You can see from the background that these ones are part of a ‘red phone box/red postbox’ double feature, which is always nice.

We’ll move somewhere else for our first phone box of 2019!
