Doing Sunday like an actual adult

I hired a car from the car club again this morning so that Geth and I could collect a crate of beer for UK Games Expo (it’s a good month and a half away yet, but Geth had a Majestic Wines voucher that he wanted to use up) and then take some of our junk that we’d been keeping in the garage to the dump, like real grown-ups do at the weekend. We will be repeating this highly exciting chore next week, because there’s a lot more junk still to get rid of.

We then went to the local pub for lunch, as Geth was meeting some friends for boardgaming. I’ve been avoiding our local since I quit drinking, because I didn’t really want to be around somewhere that had so many cider associations for me. However, today it was okay – they do a nice ginger beer that I will log soon.

I then got some work done for clients that I hadn’t managed to finish during the week. More day job work tomorrow – I’m hoping for a bit of a lull over Easter so I can have a good go at my own writing projects as well.

An even more hectic Friday!

I expected my day job work to take up the morning today, but no more. What actually happened is that I’ve only just finished for the day and still have a bit to do tomorrow, because there was a lot of fiddly formatting stuff that I wasn’t expecting.

Another busy day tomorrow, then, but I will be doing fun stuff as well!

Back on the treadmill

I got on the treadmill this morning for my first run since Saturday’s epic long run on the roads. My legs complained a lot for the first twenty minutes, but they did loosen up eventually. I’m glad the taper has started and the runs aren’t as long anymore.

I’ve spent the rest of the day editing and writing. Looking forward to a similarly productive day tomorrow!

Back to running tomorrow morning, so hopefully my legs will have fully recovered from Saturday by then.

A creative Wednesday

I had another good day of writing and editing today, and got my book pitch sent off to a couple more agents. After this week, things will really quieten down for the month, so I’m looking forward to some quality writing time.

I’ve got the end-of-term ukulele concert tonight, so I will update you about that tomorrow!

April power

I’ve got April off to a good start with a really productive Monday. Job done for a client, 1,000 words written for my Camp NaNoWriMo project, all my usual daily writing tasks done, plus I FINALLY got my book pitch sent off to an agent. Just the one, but I’ll be contacting another tomorrow, and the next day, and so on until I get through my agent shortlist. They all have different rules about submission so it’s a bit fiddly.

The weather’s taken a turn for the miserable (as expected – we had quite a nice March, so it goes without saying that April will be cold and wet!), so Geth’s decided to stay in instead of going boardgaming tonight. As such, I’ve got some pleasant-ish videogame sounds in the background while I’m getting on with my evening tasks (he’s playing The Banner Saga, so it’s all Viking grunts rather than nice JRPG music, but it’s still fairly relaxing).

More running and driving tomorrow, with a bit of writing squeezed around the edges.

OOTD: Geth wanted an ‘industrial’ background today. Scarf Marks & Spencer (2017), hoodie Sonar (2006), t-shirt Stella Stanley for Beauty Of Gemina (2014), jeans Vivid (2018), trainers Reebok (2013).

Back it up

My plans for today changed when I woke up to a few emails from clients this morning, so I’ve spent most of the day doing day job work. I’ve also been working on a giant complicated backup I’m doing of all my computer stuff. I have an external hard drive that always refused to work with my previous laptop but has decided it likes my current one, so that’s going to give me a bit more breathing room.

Ukulele class tonight, and hopefully a straightforward Thursday tomorrow!

It’s been a bad day, please don’t take a picture

Things have…not gone to plan today.

I didn’t get my run done because I’ve still got a twingey ankle after Sunday’s race. I’ve been resting it all week (apart from walking, of which a lot has been necessary), but if it’s still complaining on Saturday I’m just going to have to run through it, because I need to get back to the training plan now.

Geth didn’t come to Slimming World because he was still feeling unwell, so I went on my own, and I wish I hadn’t. I’ve had weeks and weeks where I’ve been on plan and barely made a dent in my Christmas weight gain. One bad eating week due to being away and I’ve put on five and a half pounds. I feel like I just can’t catch a break with it at the moment.

More crappy things contributing to my bad day included: (1) my prescription sunglasses frames snapping, which means I have to go and buy new ones; (2) forgetting an essential item on the shopping list, meaning I had to trek out to the big Sainsbury’s twice today; and (3) general stress and anxiety about what’s happening in Parliament.

At least Pilates class was semi-relaxing, when I wasn’t doing exercises that killed my post-race legs. Also, I finished some editing for a client, so I guess that’s…something?

Hoping for a better day tomorrow.

OOTD 14th March 2019

Bits and pieces

Today has involved various bits of catching up after being away in Inverness. I had a bit of editing to do for a client, and got lots of tidying and admin done. Geth is feeling poorly – he seems to have caught a cold from the weather during Sunday’s race – and so the next few days will probably be quite low-key for both of us.

I also had my ukulele class for the first time in a few weeks – we had a double half term break due to some building works at the Sage Gateshead, so it was good to get back to it.

Not expecting a great result at Slimming World tomorrow after being away, but I have many quiet weeks stretching ahead of me to get back on plan and back into target range!

Video edit

Back to the editing today – mostly for clients, but I’ve also had time to do a bit of my own work as well. I really can see the end in sight now for this book draft!

I also got our DVD shelves tidied up and have identified a few to sell through Music Magpie, which is a fairly minor house job but still the first house job I’ve managed to get done in months and months.

Looking forward to getting some reading done this evening.
