Another successful parkrun this morning. It was a club takeover this week, so there were pacers – and excitingly, they brought some new pacer t-shirts with them to fill in the minutes that were previously not being paced. This meant there was a 29-minute pacer at parkrun for the very first time, which was very well-timed for me!
I wasn’t sure I’d be able to keep up with 29-minute pace, but I managed to stay on the pacer’s heels the whole way round – which resulted in a 28:42 parkrun! More than a minute off last week’s PB – and incredibly, that’s three PBs in a row! I can’t believe the times I’m getting at the moment. Just hope I can start translating them to longer distances soon!
I had a relaxed Saturday afternoon watching Geth play Final Fantasy IX again, and after enjoying the Strictly live show, we’re now continuing our Marvel catchup with Spider-Man. Looking forward to another quiet day tomorrow.
OOTD: Saturday afternoon warmth. Jumper unknown brand (vintage 1980s, bought at vintage fair 2017), jeans Levi (2018), boots Carefree (2017).

A good quiet day for getting on with admin and house stuff. I’ve been doing wardrobe organisation and have managed to get Geth’s t-shirt collection sorted out and on hangers, which was well overdue.
Geth himself is out at a work meal tonight, so I’ve got the house to myself again and am catching up with TV.
OOTD: the girl in black. T-shirt Cyberdog (originally early ’00s, thrifted from Geth 2014), belt H&M (2017), tights Primark (2017), shoes Primark (2012).
Today’s earworm playlist:
Tracey Ullman – They Don’t Know
Howard Jones – What Is Love?
Assemblage 23 – Let The Wind Erase Me
This is another one that Dad brought me from the south-west.
Sheppy’s Original Cloudy Cider.
This has a lovely comforting warm sweet taste, and is my favourite out of all the Sheppy’s ciders I’ve tried. When Mum and Dad went back to the south-west a couple of weeks ago, they asked if there was a particular variety I wanted, and this is the one I chose! I’ve not checked yet if they managed to find it, but I hope they did ’cause it would make a lovely Christmas drink this winter.
A nice regular Thursday today. Slimming World this morning (two pounds off to take me back into target range, hopefully for good now the summer is over!), a good bit of admin catchup in the afternoon, then Pilates class this evening.
Now watching triathlon on the TV again!
OOTD: not doing too well at teaching Geth to focus this camera – may invest in a tripod instead. Hoodie Uneek Classic for Mesh (2016), t-shirt Puma for Great Winter Run (2016), leggings Primark (2018), trainers Reebok (2018).
Today’s earworm playlist:
Clean Bandit and Demi Lovato – Solo
Martika – Toy Soldiers
Panic! At The Disco – High Hopes
Philip Oakey and Giorgio Moroder – Together In Electric Dreams
Keala Settle – This Is Me
Soft Cell – Say Hello, Wave Goodbye
T.Rex – Cosmic Dancer
Duran Duran – Girls On Film
INXS – Never Tear Us Apart
Yanomamo! – Forest People
T.Rex – 20th Century Boy
Moving onto a phone box that I first spotted while running the Sunderland 10K in 2016, but of which I only had the chance to take a photo the following year, when Geth and I went to Sunderland so he could look at the course in preparation (he ran it for the first time in 2017).
Red phone box, Borough Road, Sunderland, 14th April 2017.
I love a good phone-box-turned-cash-machine – it keeps the boxes useful in the world of the 21st century!
Update 26th February 2026: unfortunately this phone box has now been removed (and Google Street View doesn’t seem to have historical data available for Sunderland city centre) but I’ve added a coordinate link for where it used to be.
It was good to be able to go for a long run this morning after being too ill last week. I was a bit tired out in the second half, but I think that’s partially because I’m not fully recovered yet. Next week should be better.
A relaxed afternoon catching up with admin again, and now have YouTube on in the background courtesy of Geth.
Panic! At The Disco – High Hopes
Jermaine Stewart – We Don’t Have To Take Our Clothes Off
David Guetta and Sia – Flames
Simon & Garfunkel – Bridge Over Troubled Water
Loud Luxury and Brando – Body
INXS – Mystify
INXS – Need You Tonight
Macklemore and Skylar Grey – Glorious
5 Seconds Of Summer – Youngblood
Duran Duran – Like An Angel
This is one I tried in the bar of the Jesmond Dene House hotel when my in-laws were staying there. I’ve also since had it at another bar in central Newcastle.
South West Orchards is lovely and sweet, but there’s definitely a southwest ‘farm’ taste about it, which gives it a sharper edge. Very nice though!
