Feels like a beginning

Physio yesterday went well – I was able to explain everything that happened over the summer and I now have the beginnings of a plan. She says my current strength training set doesn’t have enough actual strengthening in it (it’s more focused on mobility as that’s what I’ve needed for rehab over the last few years) and so I’ll gradually be adding different exercises into the set over time.

I was also able to go to the social run this morning, which was great. Still feeling slightly chesty and sniffly and I wasn’t quite able to keep the pace up the whole way, but I know that will come back quickly.

Weekend has almost landed and I’m really looking forward to it. Lots of gaming to be getting on with.

Midweek gettings-on

Bit of a slow morning (still catching up on sleep from last week) but it’s shaping up to be a good day. Running is feeling more and more normal every morning and I should have another good chunk of time for working on my game later. Lots to enjoy at the moment.

I’ve got a physio appointment tomorrow, which I’m really pleased about. I’m aiming for a bit of a ‘prehab’ focus to the next marathon block, so want to work out the best strategy for that.

Back to game-making

Going to start the coding on my Hallowe’en game today. I was meant to start last week but I wasn’t feeling well enough to concentrate on code. It’s been a few months since I settled into a game project and I think the small game I’ve planned out for this month will be a good way to dive back in.

Still only running short but feeling a lot better out there now – energy levels are almost back to normal.

New week

Doing much better today and have been productive. Working most of the day and then sorting out some donation bags for this week’s charity uplift. I’m having a fairly successful time of it with my de-hoarding at the moment – it’s an emotional process but I am getting rid of a lot! Since autumn began there seems to be a charity bag through the door once a week at the moment, which is great, and I’m putting four or five bags out every week for collection. It’s so much easier than taking it all to a charity shop myself, which is the most procrastinate-able task in the world (I’ve personally been procrastinating said task for about 20 years, which is partly where the problem lies).

No social run for me tonight as I’m still not feeling 100%, but I do feel much, much better and am looking forward to having a normal running weekend again from Friday (and, in the meantime, getting back to my focused strength training sessions).

Grumpy cold-ridden mood

No parkrun today as still not feeling well. I just went out for a gentle mile instead. I can deal with the headcold stuff but I am hoping to feel a bit less wiped out and feverish soon! I’ve got thinking stuff to do and at the moment my brain’s not up to that. I’ll take as many days as I need to get better, but I am feeling pretty grumpy and out of sorts. So much on the to-do list and at the moment I’m not even up to doing fun stuff!

Trying to think of something positive: the week ahead is looking quiet so far, so hopefully I won’t fall too far behind with work.

Some recovery

I’ve been struggling with a cold (the same thing Geth has had) the last couple of days so didn’t go to the social run this morning. Just a very gentle solo plod instead and then back to the warmth of the house.

It’s not been the week I expected but I’m looking forward to next week. Just need to get over the last of the cold and get my brain back into some semblance of order. Trying to work with brain fog over the last couple of days has been tough and I’m glad it’s the weekend! Hope I can do something a little more interesting than just staring into space. It’d be nice to get back to my gaming at least.

Sofa day (as usual)

Early start today as our mortgage meeting was brought forward, so I’ve got a good chunk of time for the rest of the day to get on with work and admin. The to-do list is a bit lengthy this week so hopefully I’ll get that hacked down today!

Quiet evening incoming. Geth is poorly and needs to doze, and I’m fairly tired having not slept well. I sometimes feel like we’ve become a bit elderly in outlook (going out? what’s that?) but in all honesty I’m much happier this way.

Background stuff to watch

Day on the sofa getting on with work and admin mostly, but I also did a nice long strength training session after my run. I didn’t have time for as much strength training as I would have liked over the summer, but I’m planning to do longer sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays now that I’m back into some semblance of routine. I already feel better for it, and I was able to catch up with the tail end of the London Marathon footage during the session, which was nice. I need to find some equally inspiring stuff to watch for future sessions!
