A fairly busy day with a social run (pace is improving!) followed by a long drive. Settling in for the evening now and looking forward to doing one of my favourite ‘further afield’ parkruns tomorrow (plus spending a bit of time with the in-laws).
Sleeping well at the moment. Hoping to keep doing enough exercise post-GNR that this will continue!
Both Geth and I needed all the sleep this morning so we weren’t awake until after 10am and not out on our long runs until noon. As a result, it doesn’t feel like there’s been much ‘rest of the day’, but that’s fine as I’m quite keen to get back to sleep. Day off tomorrow and I’m hoping to be more awake for it.
I’ve been on the sofa making my game most of today. Geth was out doing the long run route from my 2021 marathon training block this morning, and I have to say I feel pretty envious – I really want to be back out there, and my legs do feel like they’re improving. I don’t want to risk anything until I’ve seen the physio, though. Four more days.
I’m really appreciating a bit of quiet at the moment. I’m sleeping better and feel very settled in what I’m doing. Just need to get the aches and pains sorted and everything will be golden 🙂
Just been dozing this weekend and doing research for something that will hopefully improve my running training. Fingers crossed for a slightly more ‘awake’ few days as I’ve got lots to do!
Geth and I have had another nice few days away visiting family, but are back in Newcastle now. I’m looking forward to the weekend! Bit of parkrun tomorrow and then a good doze for the rest of the weekend, I expect.
I say this every week but I’m hoping things will wind down a bit soon!

There’s been a lot of rain this week, but the temperature has not lowered and sleep has been difficult due to the muggy night-time atmosphere. I’ve also had so much day job work I’ve not had time for anything else. I’m obviously thrilled that business has been booming recently, but I’m looking forward to a bit of downtime soon!
Not much else to report this week as a result. Hoping to be able to squeeze in some game creation as well next week.

Last weekend felt like spring. I made a lot of plans to step up my exercise levels this month, and to catch up with all the things with which I’d fallen behind over the last couple of weeks, and to keep my planned schedule going so that I could continue videogaming in the evenings.
On Monday morning, I went out for my daily run and the temperature had dropped by about ten degrees. Everything was covered in frost and my hands froze as I trotted round my usual route, desperately wishing that I’d put gloves on. This set the tone for the rest of the week.
I’ve worn gloves for my run every morning (though it did finally feel like it was warming up again today). I’ve run slightly more, but not a lot more. I’ve not been out for any of the long walks I was planning. I’ve kept up with cleaning and blogging, but not caught up. I’ve worked on my jam game, but not as much as I wanted to. I’ve not been videogaming at all in the evenings, because I’ve not had the energy for anything more than mindless web browsing and listening to music.
Energy has been sorely lacking in general this week, both physically and mentally. Geth hasn’t had any either because he’s got various absorbing work stuff going on at the moment, and when we’re both in that state we just sort of doze during downtime, half-there. Sleep hasn’t been great, and I’m waking up every morning with a lot of stiffness and aches and pains – something that’s chronic to an extent, but has been very noticeable recently. I’ve been having issues with breathing and joint swelling as well, which are things that largely went away when I lost weight a few years ago. I’m heavier than I’d like to be at the moment, but am still a healthy weight, so I’m not really sure if it’s related or not.
I’ve found it difficult to concentrate this week as well, so I’m really glad it’s nearly the weekend. Normally I’d be excited about videogaming but right now all I want to do is sleep!
Hoping next week will feel a bit brighter.

I’ve only been back at work for three days, but it’s been a pretty busy half week, so the weekend is very welcome! The combination of lockdown and snow lends itself well to videogaming, so that’s what I’ll be doing. Geth got me a Switch Lite for my birthday, I still have plenty of games in my backlog on other systems, and I still have lots of games from the most recent Adventuron jam to play and rate – so I’m not going to run out of entertainment any time soon.
It always takes me a while to find my feet again after Christmas. There’s a lot of stuff that needs sorting out in the house, but I’m gradually catching up with things. I’m sleeping late at the moment, which is a habit I really want to get out of so that I can get more done in the mornings. Hopefully once Geth is back at work next week, it’ll be easier to get into pattern.
I started attending a new Zoom music group this week. It’s very beginner-friendly, and Zoom music groups are always muted so I can happily bash away on my ukulele without worrying about anyone hearing me. As such, it’s a really good way to get back into playing; I haven’t found much time for practising since my previous classes came to a halt last March.
A good start to January, given the ongoing circumstances.
I was awake about three hours earlier this morning than I have been recently, as I wanted to get a treadmill run in before my hair appointment. It’s nice to have my hair in check again (it was getting unwieldy), but I find that if I don’t get a lot of sleep then I’m really hungry the next day! Currently trying to resist the mince pies in the cupboard, though I don’t expect I’ll last out for the whole afternoon.
Since I got back, I’ve just been working on my game for the current Adventuron jam. It’s a fairly short game but I’m really enjoying making it!
I’ve made the sofa a bit cosier and comfier (and wintry-looking!) by putting on a big faux-mink blanket that had been sitting at the back of a cupboard for years until I pulled it out last week. Now looking forward to a properly relaxing evening of not doing very much. Tomorrow should be fairly quiet as well!
