Pre-GNR marshalling at Jesmond Dene this morning (at our favourite marshal points).
Bit mizzly this morning but that’s fine. Ideally it’ll stay cool-ish for the race tomorrow.
No parkrun next weekend as will be travelling.
Mum and Dad found me another phone box in rural Scotland last week.
(Coordinates 55°67’01.6″N, 3°60’79.6″W.)
Some interesting stuff going on with the paintwork here. The red exterior looks sad and neglected (common for rural boxes) but the frames round the glass panels have been painted white at some point (over a decade ago, judging by Google Street View). I don’t think I’ve seen one like that before!
I was disappointed a few weeks ago when the weather forecast promised some thunderstorms that did not materialise. Some more were promised today and did arrive this time. The thunder and lightning hasn’t been hugely impressive (though there has been a bit!) but it’s good to get the air cleared.
I was also able to get out for today’s short run while it was still sunny, so can now enjoy the storm from indoors.
Another fairly intense day with work but we’re getting there.
Quite a lot to do this week but I’ve made a good start. I got more work done than expected today (so am hoping to be able to finish with day job stuff early this week and squeeze some extra game-making in) and have got a ton of extra admin done including sorting out a prescription prepayment certificate (for which I now qualify due to taking so many pills that I rattle 🙄).
There’s a nice trip next week that I’m looking forward to… but I need to focus on the GNR first! Doing a bit of extra strength training this week to make sure everything’s in order.
Back to Pendle today to take on the hills again – and I got a course PB of 35:10, which was great! I feel like my fitness has improved a bit recently.
Next target for Pendle is sub-35 – a formality on most courses I frequent but I find this one really does add five minutes!
Some pre-GNR volunteering next week.
A fairly busy day with a social run (pace is improving!) followed by a long drive. Settling in for the evening now and looking forward to doing one of my favourite ‘further afield’ parkruns tomorrow (plus spending a bit of time with the in-laws).
Sleeping well at the moment. Hoping to keep doing enough exercise post-GNR that this will continue!
Bill sent in a photo of this shiny museum piece at the weekend!
(Coordinates 52°18’92.7″N, 1°48’06.8″W.)
Google Street View has some images from inside the museum, which shows us that the phone box was in a different place last year. I think it looks better in its current location. Nearly as shiny as the cars!
Another phone box from Scotland next week.
