I skipped parkrun this morning as I’ve got a few aches and pains that are playing up (and besides, Geth was off to a boardgaming event so he wasn’t going to parkrun anyway). As such, I’ve had a very nice Saturday of not being out in the rain. I’ve listened to a lot of music, haphazardly played some of my own on my ukulele, and got a bit of writing done.
I’m really enjoying this quiet weekend. More of the same tomorrow!
OOTD: a good day for lounging around in jeans and Dad’s old university t-shirt. T-shirt Ron Holland for Cambridge University (vintage 1970s, thrifted from Dad 2012), jeans H&M (thrifted from Steff 2016), trainers Reebok (2017).

A nice quiet day for catching up with stuff today! I got all my accounts done, caught up with a bit of writing, got some ukulele practice in, and listened to a lot of music I’d been meaning to check out for a while.
More peace and quiet tomorrow!
OOTD: it was still nice enough for a walk this morning! Sunglasses Ray-Ban (2019), jacket Mercy (2007/2009, due to a complicated story that I still don’t have time to tell you at the moment), blouse CD (vintage 1980s, bought at vintage fair 2017), bag CXL by Christian Lacroix (2018), skirt Miss Selfridge (2004), shoes Vivienne Westwood Anglomania for Melissa (2018).

It’s been a nice quiet day today – Geth and I went to Slimming World in the morning, but I’ve spent the rest of the day getting on with admin and writing.
Similarly quiet tomorrow I hope!

No review post today as I’m having a quiet day before a race tomorrow!
Geth and I volunteered at parkrun this morning, then went for our traditional post-parkrun-volunteering-on-a-race-weekend breakfast in town. Once back home, I spent the afternoon getting some writing done.
Just a quiet evening now before the race tomorrow! I’m doing the 10K (which probably won’t break any records given that I’m still recovering from London) and Geth is doing the half marathon. I will let you know tomorrow how it all goes!
OOTD: at this rate I’m going to be wearing winter jumpers into June! Jumper Faber (vintage 1980s, bought at vintage fair 2018), jeans H&M (thrifted from Steff 2016), trainers Reebok (2013).

A bit of an interrupted day today, because I had to spend the afternoon hanging about at the eye clinic again – but I’m pleased to report that my eye is almost back to normal inflammation-wise, and the doctor says that I can start reducing the eye drop treatment (which I am THRILLED about because it’s been a real pain remembering to take them every hour). In addition to reducing the steroid drops I’ve been taking, I can also stop taking the ones that dilate my eye, so hopefully my blurry vision will clear up soon as well. I also don’t have to go back to the clinic again until they call me in for a follow-up check, which probably won’t be for a couple of months. Very happy with today’s progress!
In the evening, I went to ukulele class – beginner class is already throwing up some good challenges compared to absolute beginner class! – and am now curled up at home, catching up with a bit of writing and appreciating being out of the rain. Hope the weather clears up by tomorrow morning.
OOTD: too rainy for an outdoor photo today, but pleased to be back in my eye makeup! Glasses Emporio Armani (2017), jumper Ellend (vintage 1980s, bought at vintage fair 2019), jeans Levi (2018).

A fairly busy day today. I had work to do for a couple of clients for most of the day, and otherwise have just been sorting out the house and getting all my writing and admin tasks done for the day as Geth and I have a guest round for boardgaming tonight.
Tomorrow is another Wednesday of being out and about, as my eye saga continues! It feels back to normal now, though my vision is still blurry from the drops. I’m hoping the doctor will be able to see some improvement.
OOTD: blue Tuesday. Blouse Yessica (vintage 1980s, bought at vintage fair 2018), skirt Calvin Klein Jeans (2004), trainers Reebok (2017).

Geth has been out boardgaming today so I’ve had a nice, relaxing Sunday in the house, writing, listening to music, and finally getting on with a few sewing jobs I’ve been putting off for years. I’m itching to get on with house stuff again now but I’m a bit busy at the moment. Maybe over the summer.
More writing this evening, and then a nice bank holiday Monday to do some more catching up tomorrow.

It’s a weekend without a long run in it! I’ve not had one of those since…early January? It is quite nice to have my weekends back again!
I did do parkrun this morning, though. I felt free to bomb it round without worrying about conserving energy for long runs, so I managed a respectable sub-33. Four minutes slower than my PB from last summer, but also four minutes faster than the shakeout parkrun I did at Highbury Fields last weekend!
I was tempted to head into town for Free Comic Book Day, but in the end I decided I’d rather hibernate (it’s cold for May – we had a bit of hail at parkrun this morning). As such, I’ve spent the rest of the day catching up with admin and writing, which is going to be a bit of a theme this weekend!
I had a bit of day job work to do this morning, but in the afternoon I was able to relax a bit with music and internet. Now spending the evening catching up with a few quick writing tasks.
Looking forward to a similarly quiet weekend!
OOTD: not quite ready to put the jumpers away yet (it snowed briefly today! In May!). Glasses Emporio Armani (2017), jumper Ellend (vintage 1980s, bought at vintage fair 2019), jeans Vivid (2018).
Geth and I first ran Highbury Fields parkrun in November 2017, as I have previously mentioned during a whole series of Phone Box Thursdays (there are a lot of phone boxes along the walk from the Thistle City Barbican – our favoured London hotel – to Highbury Fields).
Me with a phone box (logged here) the first time we ran Highbury Fields in November 2017.
It’s not flat, but the inclines aren’t too troubling if you’re used to hills. It’s a five-lap course, and because I’m used to much longer distances after four months of marathon training, the laps felt really short when I ran it for the second time this last Saturday.
It’s also a really lovely park. One of the many novels I’m working on is set in Islington, and I have a lot of scenes with characters going for walks around the pathways!
There are other London parkruns I’d like to do at some point, but because Geth and I always stay at the Thistle (and so Islington is kind of our base whenever we’re in town), I think Highbury Fields will always be our default.
