Another non-stop Wednesday!

It’s been a busy day today. Some urgent work came in from a client overnight, so I spent the morning doing that, and then went to the hospital for my uveitis check-up. The drops have worked perfectly – a lot quicker than for the first attack, probably because I caught it sooner – and all signs of uveitis are pretty much gone. I’ve been given permission to speed up the steroid eye drop withdrawal process, so my new date for the official end of the eye saga is Tuesday 16th July, when I will take my last eye drop. I’m hoping for a permanent respite from the zombie invasion!

I then headed to the centre of town to spend a couple of hours catching up with my cousin Freya. After that, it was time for my ukulele class – the last class proper of the summer term, as we’ll be doing the end-of-term concert next week.

Now for a couple of hours chilling out with music before bed!

Dancing feet

A day of small victories! Zombie Eye 2 is pretty much back to normal after a couple of days of eye drops, so it’s just a case of continuing to take them now. Also, I managed to be at my desk* at nine like I’m supposed to be, which felt like a real achievement after oversleeping for all of last week.

As such, I managed to get a lot of work done today. I then went back to dance class this evening for the first time since moving house (so nearly a year and a half!). Most of the routines were new to me so it’s going to take a few weeks of feeling useless while I pick them up, but it felt really great to be dancing again, and there was one we did at the end that I knew from before (it was one of my favourites!).

Glad to be back in routine – hoping for a similarly productive day tomorrow.

*My sofa, with my laptop, and my feet up. There are many perks to working from home.

Not an OOTD: no outfit shot today because I was in workout gear all day. You can have a photo of my neglected-till-now dance trainers instead.

Eyeball of the living dead

I spent a long, boring morning in the hospital waiting room today (luckily I had my 3DS with me). Zombie Eye 2, as expected, is uveitis. As such, I’m back on the hourly eye drops. The good thing is that I caught it sooner this time round so it’s not yet at such a severe level as the first attack. This means I only have to take a five-week course of drops rather than an eight-week course! Fingers crossed I will finally defeat the zombie invasion for good this time.

Geth and I are going out for his belated birthday meal tonight, so I’m getting all my admin done this afternoon. A quieter day tomorrow I hope.

Damn your eyes

No New Hits Friday today as Geth is coming home and we’re doing belated birthday celebrations. I’ll catch up with the chart over the weekend!

I’ve just spent today getting admin and writing done otherwise. I also called the hospital, because much as I would have loved the eye saga to be over after I finally finished the course of eye drops this week, it appears the uveitis has now shown up in the other eye. Perfect timing. 🙁 As such, I will be spending tomorrow morning in the waiting room of the eye clinic again.

Hopefully the treatment itself will be as straightforward as last time.

Sunshine walks part two: medical errands edition

I had a doctor’s appointment this morning (I needed to renew my regular medication) and then a quick trip to the hospital afterwards to pick up some hearing aid batteries. Nice to listen to some podcasts in the sunshine!

Day job work and writing all afternoon, and now settling in for the evening with some music.

All the tunes

I skipped parkrun this morning as I’ve got a few aches and pains that are playing up (and besides, Geth was off to a boardgaming event so he wasn’t going to parkrun anyway). As such, I’ve had a very nice Saturday of not being out in the rain. I’ve listened to a lot of music, haphazardly played some of my own on my ukulele, and got a bit of writing done.

I’m really enjoying this quiet weekend. More of the same tomorrow!

OOTD 18th May 2019
OOTD: a good day for lounging around in jeans and Dad’s old university t-shirt. T-shirt Ron Holland for Cambridge University (vintage 1970s, thrifted from Dad 2012), jeans H&M (thrifted from Steff 2016), trainers Reebok (2017).

The eye saga is (nearly) over!

A bit of an interrupted day today, because I had to spend the afternoon hanging about at the eye clinic again – but I’m pleased to report that my eye is almost back to normal inflammation-wise, and the doctor says that I can start reducing the eye drop treatment (which I am THRILLED about because it’s been a real pain remembering to take them every hour). In addition to reducing the steroid drops I’ve been taking, I can also stop taking the ones that dilate my eye, so hopefully my blurry vision will clear up soon as well. I also don’t have to go back to the clinic again until they call me in for a follow-up check, which probably won’t be for a couple of months. Very happy with today’s progress!

In the evening, I went to ukulele class – beginner class is already throwing up some good challenges compared to absolute beginner class! – and am now curled up at home, catching up with a bit of writing and appreciating being out of the rain. Hope the weather clears up by tomorrow morning.

OOTD 8th May 2019

Back to the day job

A fairly busy day today. I had work to do for a couple of clients for most of the day, and otherwise have just been sorting out the house and getting all my writing and admin tasks done for the day as Geth and I have a guest round for boardgaming tonight.

Tomorrow is another Wednesday of being out and about, as my eye saga continues! It feels back to normal now, though my vision is still blurry from the drops. I’m hoping the doctor will be able to see some improvement.

OOTD 7th May 2019

A hectic Wednesday

Lots of appointments and lots of work to do today!

I picked up my new prescription sunglasses at the opticians this morning (finally!), meaning I no longer have to choose between being dazzled or blind when I’m out in the sunshine. I’m currently finding pretty much all daylight far too bright due to the uveitis, so I’m really happy that I’ve been able to collect them now.

In the afternoon, I had a follow-up appointment at the eye clinic. This was a bit of a saga (eye is healing okay, it’s just that they needed to do a lot of checks) and took quite a bit longer than expected. Have to go back in again next week as well, which is slightly stressful.

The evening appointment was more enjoyable – ukulele class has started up again! This term, I’ve moved up to ‘beginners’ from ‘absolute beginners’, and it’s nice to be starting a new class with new tunes. Looking forward to the term ahead.

In between all that, I’ve been doing day job work. Business is booming at the moment so tomorrow will probably be similarly hectic!

OOTD 1st May 2019
OOTD: looking forward to being able to wear eye makeup again! Glasses Emporio Armani (2017), hoodie Internacionale (2000), dress Triumph (vintage 1980s, bought at vintage fair 2018), belt H&M (2017).

Marathon weekend is here!

After taking the eye drops for a day so far, the good news is that my eye is feeling a lot better than it did. It’s still very misty and blurry vision-wise, and I’m still having to take occasional ibuprofen, but I’m hoping for it to be even better tomorrow.

I picked up my marathon running number this afternoon. All starting to feel very real now! Looking forward to a relatively restful Saturday before the big day.
