Phone Box Thursday: High Street, Lakenheath

Here’s the next from Mum and Dad’s recent travels. I found another on Google Street View while tracking down this one, so perhaps there’ll be another visit to Lakenheath one day!

Perhaps providing a bit of symbolism for the fast-moving nature of 2022, this box still had its Platinum Jubilee decorations up on 18th September (other slightly more up-to-date phone boxes were in mourning dress by then!). Behind the flags and children’s drawings, it’s another book exchange, which is always nice to see.

Getting on and music choices

Week is still fairly busy but also still very enjoyable due to delving into my game every day after work. Not much to report but it’s taking shape day by day!

’80s playlist is back on today after a few weeks/months of videogame soundtracks. It’s a nice change but a bit distracting, so I might switch back or find something else that’s more chilled.

Week on target

I really enjoyed a slightly longer run with the social group last night, and still felt fresh for another short run this morning. I’m slightly in limbo with the running at the moment because focused training doesn’t start again until December, but it’s a nice limbo to be in.

Both work and game-making are going slowly but well this week, and it’s looking like I’ll hit my goals for both by Friday *fingers crossed* – though I’m happy to do a bit of work on the game at the weekend as well if I’m behind.

Monday schedule

I’m doing my run with the social group in the evening again today, so it’s one of those backwards days! Had a hospital consultant appointment by phone this morning (some good advice about my spondylitis flare-ups) but have mainly just been able to get on with work and game-making. Fingers crossed for similar days all week.

parkrunday: Jesmond Dene #80

Third birthday celebration for Jesmond Dene this morning, so I chose today for my monthly marshalling 🙂 Some much-appreciated Celebrations to celebrate at the volunteer meeting point!

parkrun volunteering

No Geth with me at point 4 today as he was off to Town Moor to try and get a speedy one in, but it was nice to chat to a volunteer visiting from Kent as we headed up. Runners through the point promptly as ever!

I’ll be volunteering lots at Jesmond Dene once marathon training starts in the winter – already looking forward to it.

Feels like a beginning

Physio yesterday went well – I was able to explain everything that happened over the summer and I now have the beginnings of a plan. She says my current strength training set doesn’t have enough actual strengthening in it (it’s more focused on mobility as that’s what I’ve needed for rehab over the last few years) and so I’ll gradually be adding different exercises into the set over time.

I was also able to go to the social run this morning, which was great. Still feeling slightly chesty and sniffly and I wasn’t quite able to keep the pace up the whole way, but I know that will come back quickly.

Weekend has almost landed and I’m really looking forward to it. Lots of gaming to be getting on with.

Phone Box Thursday: Main Street, Prickwillow

Here’s one that Mum and Dad found further south.

A rare one from east of the meridian!

The surroundings are a bit tatty at the moment with the roadwork barriers (it looks nicer on Street View), but it’s good to see another village book exchange.

A few more from this part of the world over the next few weeks.

Update 25th December 2025: a post about this phone box’s famous Christmas decor!

Midweek gettings-on

Bit of a slow morning (still catching up on sleep from last week) but it’s shaping up to be a good day. Running is feeling more and more normal every morning and I should have another good chunk of time for working on my game later. Lots to enjoy at the moment.

I’ve got a physio appointment tomorrow, which I’m really pleased about. I’m aiming for a bit of a ‘prehab’ focus to the next marathon block, so want to work out the best strategy for that.
