A bit out of sorts today as my editing for clients took longer than expected and so I couldn’t finish off my own editing. I really had hoped to get the editing and pitching of this book done this week, because I didn’t want it to drag on into March, but it can’t be helped – the day job takes priority.
I’m really looking forward to a quiet weekend after a hectic few weeks.
OOTD: flashes of red for St David’s Day. Jumper Faber (vintage 1980s, bought at vintage fair 2018), jeans H&M (thrifted from Steff 2016), boots Irregular Choice (2012).

Last day of meteorological winter, and it was a good day today! I did my speed run first thing as usual for a Thursday, and then went to Slimming World. It was a bit of a special group today as it was the last day for our consultant, Katie – she’s retiring and it will never be the same 🙁 It was also the taster session for the group’s Greatest Loser award, which I won for the second year running. Nice to have a shiny sticker for the new book I got at Christmas! Geth got some more ‘bling for his book’ too, as he was joint Slimmer of the Month for February.
In the afternoon, I was tempted by the usual Thursday afternoon doze, but I did have a lot of work to do so I stayed awake and got that done instead. Following some celebratory pizza and ginger beer (Geth and I have both had successes at work this week), I’m now settling in for an evening of writing.
OOTD: love those Slimming World award flowers! Glasses Emporio Armani (2017), scarf Leonardi (vintage 1970s/1980s, thrifted from Anne out of Granny Bessie’s collection 1995), hoodie Internacionale (2000), dress unknown brand (thrifted from Steff 2016), tights Primark (2017).

It’s been a very productive day of editing my book. Just five more chapters left and then I’ll be able to send it out on Friday! I’m going to be so happy next week when I can work on projects that are not this one. I think it was a strong sign that I would rather be working on other things when I took a break for lunch today and my brain immediately came up with five different ideas for new novels!
No ukulele class this evening as we’re on (delayed) half term, so I’m going to catch up with a bit of writing instead.
OOTD: laughing at the off-camera antics of next door’s cat, who came to investigate when Geth was taking the picture! Jumper unknown brand (vintage 1980s, bought at vintage fair 2017), jeans Zara (2018), boots Carefree (2017).
Bonus ‘next door’s cat’ picture. He wears the same outfit every day!

Other than an hour of running this morning, I’ve spent all of today editing for clients. Looking forward to getting some of my own writing done this evening!
Another editing day tomorrow, but for myself this time.
OOTD: still springlike outside! Scarf Primark (2012), jacket Mercy (2007/2009, due to a complicated story that I still don’t have time to tell you at the moment), t-shirt Katharine Hamnett (2017), skirt Sevim Isler (2014), tights Pamela Mann (2014), shoes Vivienne Westwood Anglomania for Melissa (2009).

It’s still beautifully and unusually springlike for February, but sadly I’m not going to be leaving the house much this week as I don’t have any appointments and there’s a lot of work to catch up with!
I’ve spent most of today editing for clients, but I did manage to get a bit of writing done in the afternoon. This evening, I attended a feedback webinar for writing – they didn’t get round to my submission, but I did pick up some very useful tips for pitching my books.
More client work to do tomorrow.
OOTD: at least I got outside for a photo! Scarf unknown brand (2015), hoodie Internacionale (2000), t-shirt Punk Masters (2018), skirt unknown brand (vintage 1980s, bought at vintage fair 2017), tights Primark (2017), boots Carefree (2017).

I’ve had a nice quiet Saturday. Geth and I went and did a very hilly parkrun this morning, then out shopping, and we’ve spent the afternoon watching rugby with the in-laws (well, to be fair, I didn’t actually watch the Scotland match – I put my headphones in and listened to the chart so as not to put my stress levels up!).
A bit of writing, boardgaming, and Indian takeaway tonight – and then a long run tomorrow afternoon, which should set me up nicely for the Inverness half in a couple of weeks’ time!
OOTD: it was warm enough to go out without a coat today! Sunglasses Boots (2013), jumper Ellend (vintage 1980s, bought at vintage fair 2019), bag CXL by Christian Lacroix (2018), jeans Vivid (2018), boots Clarks (2016).

I got back to my editing today. The novel wordcount hacking is going really well – I’ve got rid of about 18,000 words so far and I reckon I can hack it down by another 10,000+ words when editing the remaining chapters in the next few days. I’ll have it finished and ready to pitch by Wednesday, and will send it out to the first batch of agents on Thursday. I’m so looking forward to working on other things in March.
I’ve got a few bits and pieces of writing to do over the weekend, but I’m also looking forward to spending some time with the in-laws.
OOTD: definitely starting to feel springlike! Scarf Matalan (2016), jacket Luca D’Altieri (2008), Duran Duran t-shirt Amplified (2018), jeans H&M (thifted from Steff 2016), boots Clarks (2016).

I’ve been finding on Thursdays recently that after doing my early morning speed run and walking back and forth to Slimming World group, I get really tired and don’t have much energy for doing stuff (probably ’cause I don’t eat or drink till after weigh-in, but that’s sort of a necessary evil!). I think I’m going to stop scheduling work for Thursday afternoons and move it to the weekend instead.
I was feeling especially dozy this afternoon after a fairly hectic twenty-four hours. Following a day of editing, yesterday evening I went to ukulele class, then to a poetry evening for a few hours (I’m still looking to get into performance poetry and so I’m in the process of checking out a few nights to see what it involves), then I was up early for my speed run and Slimming World as usual. As such, I decided to spend the afternoon reading, which has cleared my brain fug nicely and means I finally feel up to getting a few minor writing tasks done this evening.
Hoping for a more energetic day tomorrow.
OOTD: this is still a good Thursday outfit even on a non-Pilates day. Glasses Emporio Armani (2017), jumper Carlo Colucci (vintage 1980s, bought at vintage fair 2017).

I did another treadmill run this morning. The weather is definitely nice enough to run on the roads again, but I’m still finding the routes samey, and I’ve got a lot of BBC4 documentaries to watch. So yeah.
I did get out into the sun for a walk, though, as I needed to go to the hospital to see if they’d take my earmould impressions this time round after yesterday’s uncomfortable ear syringing experience. A long queue and some cold goop later, the impressions were ready to go. Success! I will need to go to the hospital one more time in about three weeks’ time to pick them up, but for the time being the saga seems to be done. They even sanded down the broken edge of my left earmould for me so that it wouldn’t irritate my ear while I’m waiting for the new ones.
I spent the rest of the day editing for myself and others, and am looking forward to getting a bit of writing done this evening. I’m also looking forward to slow cooker curry, which has become a bit of a favourite over the last couple of weeks.
OOTD: had to try out my new winter-patterned jumper before the winter disappeared! Jumper unknown brand (vintage 1980s, bought at vintage fair 2019), leggings Primark (2018), boots Clarks (2009).

As part of my hearing aid earmould replacement saga, I had to go to the GP this morning to get my ears syringed. I have had a lot of procedures done to my ears during my life, but I’ve never had to have irrigation done before. Due to my stupidly deformed inner ear workings, it was really uncomfortable – my extra-problematic left ear started bleeding during the procedure, and my extra-sensitive right ear has been aching for the rest of the day.
I also made the mistake of consulting Dr Internet afterwards, which told me that you should never have ear irrigation carried out if you have deformed eardrums, and now I’m a bit paranoid because nobody told me that before I went ahead with it.
Anyway, a combination of paracetamol and time seems to have helped with the pain, so I will head back to the hospital tomorrow in the hope that they’ll take the earmould impressions this time. One of my cracked moulds actually split in half when I was putting my aids in this morning, making it a bit uncomfortable to wear, so hopefully I’ll be able to get the replacement moulds sooner rather than later.
The rest of the day has been spent catching up with writing and editing. It’s going to be a bit of a hectic week, but I’ve got everything scheduled in – just need to keep zipping along.
OOTD: feeling sorry for myself and keeping warm! Glasses Emporio Armani (2017), scarf unknown brand (2015), jacket unknown brand (estimated vintage 1990s, bought at vintage shop 2003), t-shirt Punk Masters (2018), jeans Levi (2018).
