Getting settled

We’ve definitely come back to cooler weather. Even needing a couple of hours of heating on here and there! I am happiest in these mid-range temperatures though, and I feel like I can settle now. Gradually doing all the post-travel sorting out this week and getting things ready for the happy autumn ahead.

New Monkey Island game out now (it was released yesterday evening) so I’m just quickly finishing off my marathon of the previous games. Should be delving into the new one tonight!

Being more comfortable

House projects are going well at the moment. I am mostly reorganising things (got some new crates on the way from Amazon later this week – super exciting I know!). Decluttering is an ongoing process and my hoarding tendencies make it hard. I’m planning to make a bit of a ‘station’ for it in the next few days so that it doesn’t take over the house.

I’m getting some good gaming time in this week as well. There have been a lot of times this year when I’ve been so busy with TechUP or my game projects or other things that I just haven’t scheduled enough time into the day to switch my brain off properly. I’m trying to make that a priority for the rest of the year.

Weekend mode

Started today off with a lovely run with the social group, which is becoming something I’m really enjoying on Friday mornings. Volunteering at parkrun tomorrow so will do a very gentle run back, and then hopefully I’ll be able to manage my twelve miles on Sunday!

I’ve been making a bit more time for reading and gaming this week, which has been so beneficial (I’m usually non-stop with day job stuff, writing, running and other ‘busy’ pursuits). Going to try and continue this.

Gaming time

Another medical saga today, but it’s a bit depressing to go into and it worked out okay in the end. Time to think about more interesting things!

The initial stages of the new game are going well, though I’m taking it fairly slowly this week as I ease back into it. I’ve also got a couple of short games that I plan to play over the next few days, especially as we’ll be travelling again for a couple of days.

Off adventuring again

I’ve got another outdoor Duran Duran gig to attend this weekend so I’m off down to London tomorrow (timing could have been better, looks like it’s going to be impossibly hot down there) while Geth holds the fort at home. This will be the very last of my pandemic-postponed events (not counting the two that never got rescheduled – I’m still holding out hope for them but it’s looking unlikely now!).

Once I was finally able to break free of the endless news-watching trap in which I had become entangled due to this week’s events, I had a really good go at Bravely Default II yesterday. I got the game when it came out in February 2021 and have been playing it on and off for over a year, but hadn’t actually opened it up since last October – I’ve been far too busy with other things since then! Hopefully this summer I will actually finish it.

A new week…

…and a much quieter one. Until the weekend, that is, when I’ll be out and about again 🙂

I’m enjoying some videogames I haven’t played for a while, and some old running routes from earlier in the year.

Morning sun

Other than a spectacularly wet morning on Monday, it’s been really hot and sunny for my morning runs recently, and I think I’ll be switching to full-on summer gear soon. I’ll probably end up taking multiple different options for the marathon itself, because the weather in Edinburgh could be anything.

A little bit of extra time today has meant a bit of gaming this afternoon, so that’s been nice.

And relax

A bit of peace and quiet for a few days now. Other than work I am looking forward to playing some games (and getting back to polishing the one I was making in March). I’ll be doing a nice gentle six-mile run on Thursday but other than that it’s all short streak savers this week.

I’m also looking forward to eating a bit better now that I’ve got more time to cook. The last couple of weeks have been slightly lacking in vital nutrients.
