The slow middle of the day

I was up early this morning to drop the car off for its annual service. I’ll be picking it up later (or tomorrow if they decide it needs extra work!) but in the meantime I’m taking the day off in order to get a bit of brain downtime in advance of a busy few days.

So far I’ve spent that time staring into space and looking at pictures of woolly hats on the internet. I think I need to switch to ‘productive downtime’ (reading a book, playing a videogame etc.) before I get depressed.

Out and about

I was out volunteering at the NEMC Town Moor Marathon and Half this afternoon – my first volunteer slot at a race, though I’ve done it plenty of times at parkrun. A lovely experience with lots of friends and inspiring runners en route. Happy to do it again in the future.

A fairly busy week ahead!

Novemberish

While there may still be a couple of slightly sagging Hallowe’en lanterns on my mantelpiece, I feel I have definitely fallen full-on into November mode. I’m writing my NaNoWriMo project (which is several small projects this year, mostly game coding) and I wrapped a couple of Christmas presents to send off this afternoon. It’ll be here before we know it!

November has become a bit busy and so I’m focusing on one or two days at a time. This weekend I’m looking forward to a bumble round parkrun and then volunteering at the race on Sunday.

Wednesday already

The week is flying by. Feels more like it should be Monday!

It was nice to be back at Pilates yesterday afternoon – my abs are feeling it today but I think it’s going to be really good for my strength routine over the next wee while. Just needed to do something a bit different.

Strengthening

Bit of an in and out day today as I’ve got both the physio and Pilates class this afternoon (same person and similar location, but too long between appointments to hang around). At least it means I get lots of walking done!

I’m quite excited about going back to Pilates class after so long. It’ll be a bit of a change of scenery and will hopefully give me some motivation for my general strength training routine by varying it up a bit.
