Another quick post today as I’ve been very busy (ran another 10k that I will review in the next couple of days!) and have to get some sleep before a long drive tomorrow.
(The OOTDs will return tomorrow. I’ve been forgetting to take pictures!)
Today’s earworm playlist:
The Midnight – Gloria EO – German Duran Duran – Save A Prayer Gunship – When You Grow Up Your Heart Dies Elton John – Blue Eyes Fleetwood Mac – Dreams Wilson Pickett – Mustang Sally Duran Duran – The Chauffeur Sam Cooke – Wonderful World
Work and other stuff has been mental today (I only just finished for the day), so no New Hits post as I’ve not had the chance to listen to the chart yet. I’ve got a race in the morning so I’ll update about that tomorrow!
Today’s earworm playlist:
Duran Duran – Serious Duran Duran – The Seventh Stranger Duran Duran – Rio Duran Duran – Meet El Presidente Buddy Holly – Raining In My Heart Tim O’Brien – Rod McNeil Duran Duran – To The Shore Sam Cooke – Wonderful World Fleetwood Mac – Dreams
(Today’s earworms split fairly evenly between Duran Duran tracks and stuff I’ve been learning in ukulele class. Lack of synthwave proving that I’ve literally not had time to listen to music this week!)
Last night was fairly successful! Ukulele class was great and I’ve got lots of things to practise during the half term break. I then went to poetry night and performed some of my poems again, with marginally fewer nerves than last time. Looking forward to the next opportunity.
This morning I went to the earlier group at Slimming World, then to the polling station to vote for myself and proxy for Geth – we’re sort of back and forth in between Newcastle and Edinburgh this week, so he wasn’t able to vote in person.
This afternoon I’ve been practising ukulele and doing a bit of editing for clients. More of the same tomorrow.
Today’s earworm playlist:
Jonas Brothers – Sucker The Midnight – Crystalline Elton John – I’m Still Standing Take That – It Only Takes A Minute Wilson Pickett – Mustang Sally Duran Duran – Save A Prayer Chris Isaak – Wicked Game The Midnight – Los Angeles
As you can probably tell from the decade-old date of the Google Street View image linked above (which is becoming a bit of a theme), this is another phone box from Dumfries and Galloway. It needs a bit of love (hopefully it’ll get adopted and repurposed at some point), but at least it’s still standing.
I’ve had a lot of time today to get on with writing, work for clients, and admin today, which has been great. Geth was delivering a lecture this evening, so we went for a drink afterwards, but otherwise I’ve just had a quiet day.
A slightly busier day tomorrow.
Today’s earworm playlist:
Trevor Something – Fade Away The Midnight – The Comeback Kid Duran Duran – I Don’t Want Your Love Trevor Something – Summer Love Duran Duran – Save A Prayer Wilson Pickett – Mustang Sally Duran Duran – White Lines Duran Duran – Electric Barbarella Gunship – When You Grow Up Your Heart Dies Duran Duran – Rio Sam Cooke – Wonderful World The Midnight – Lonely City
This is the pizza that I had from room service in my semi-awake state after the London Marathon. Never ingested such necessary calories before!
I just sort of inhaled this one as I was in such a daze, but I did note that the sauce was amazingly delicious. Will try it again next time I’m staying at the Thistle – hopefully I’ll be at least marginally more alert!
I drove up to Edinburgh to visit the family today. Nice to take the new car out of town and get some speed up!
Otherwise I’ve just been enjoying a bit of a day off. Back to work tomorrow.
Today’s earworm playlist:
Scandroid – Neo Tokyo [Dance With The Dead Remix] Duran Duran – Last Chance On The Stairway Howard Jones – New Song Queen – I Want To Break Free The Midnight – Crystalline Gunship – When You Grow Up Your Heart Dies Billy Ocean – Suddenly The Midnight – Days Of Thunder
I was going to do a ‘recent chart catchup’ for Music Video Monday today, but there haven’t been any catchup videos released for current chart hits in the last few weeks, so I’m going to go with another synthwave video instead. Geth and I have been getting into synthwave in a big way and so we’re watching a lot of playlists on YouTube. There have been some really brilliant videos made specially for the songs (such as the Gunship video I featured a couple of weeks ago), but I’ve also got a soft spot for the early makeshift attempts that are more like fanvids, such as this offering for the Midnight’s 2014 track Days Of Thunder.
The video is a lovely dreamy collage of clips from American ’80s car ads. As I was dream car shopping for about a month until I bought my Skoda last week, I’ve been really enjoying this one lately! The adverts used are brilliant and are encouraging me to track down more of the same type online. It’s probably for the best that I don’t have that much free time at the moment.
I am presuming the title of the song is a reference to the 1990 film. However, Geth keeps singing it as ‘Days Of Wonder’ (Days Of Wonder is a boardgame company).
Despite all the awesome cars, though, the highlight of the video is this guy’s 1980 moustache:
Geth and I did the highly ‘suburban couple’ thing of driving to B&Q to get gardening supplies this morning. While we were there, Geth started eyeing up the giant ostentatious barbecue sets they have by the front doors. I am not ready for this level of being an adult.
I have spent the rest of the day attempting to counter this feeling by listening to synthwave playlists and reading about films online. You can’t make me grow up!
Today’s earworm playlist:
Duran Duran – I Believe/All I Need To Know The Midnight and Nikki Flores – Jason Thought Beings – Hazy Duran Duran – White Lines Gunship – Dark All Day
